Don’t forget, Trump often uses emotional stories to shape public perception and divert attention from substantive issues. He highlights sensitive examples to portray himself as caring and compassionate, and when his opponents don’t support him, he claims they are heartless.1 This tactic is particularly effective because many of his supporters are swayed more by how they feel than by objective facts. By exploiting these narratives, he rallies his base and shifts the focus from policy details to a simplistic portrayal of who cares and who doesn’t. Keep an eye out for this, and don’t fall for it.

Also, the fact that Republicans claim to care about anything “criminal” is simply laughable. They voted for an actual convicted felon.2

You sound like just another typical lib, believing everyone else is stupid…

That picture of pelosi and company kneeling for george floyd. News flash, he was an actual, hardened felon…

I didn’t mention anything about intelligence or say that anyone is stupid. I was simply discussing a political messaging tactic, specifically the use of emotional stories to divert attention from the facts and policy issues. It seems that the response you’re having might be coming from your own perspective on the issue. My aim is to focus on the tactic itself, not to judge anyone’s intelligence or feelings.

I mentioned that the fact Republicans claim to care about anything “criminal” is laughable because they voted for an actual convicted felon. This comment was aimed at highlighting the hypocrisy of being upset over one criminal matter while ignoring another. The kneeling gesture was a symbolic act intended to call attention to the broader issues of justice and systemic inequality. Focusing solely on George Floyd’s past criminal record oversimplifies a complex situation and distracts from the deeper systemic issues that the gesture was meant to address.

I’m not sure what you mean by comparing today’s “libs” with the Bill Clinton Democrats. Are you saying that modern liberal policies, including discussions about systemic inequality, are less electable? How does this difference in political style affect the ability to solve real issues? People have different policy priorities, and opinions can change over time as new issues and facts come to light. Can you point to specific policies that you believe drove the country in the ground, and do you think people can change their stance based on new circumstances? I believe it’s more constructive to discuss actual issues rather than make sweeping insults.

Could you clarify what you mean? Are you suggesting that voters should focus on policies that benefit all Americans rather than getting caught up in media narratives or the financial backing behind certain candidates? It would also be helpful to know which specific policies or issues you feel are most important when voting.

Could you explain what you mean by “common sense prevailed” in this context? What specific decisions or policies do you see as embodying that common sense, and why do you believe they led to a better outcome?

I’m a Democrat.

did you watch it last night? do you support the hate they showed everybody?

Nephew: +2 Answers, +1 Question, +5 Information
Yes, I watched the Trump rally from last night.1 Given the context, I’ll assume you’re asking about hate from the Democrats’ side. Although there was plenty of opposition aimed at Trump, I didn’t see any hate expressed towards anyone. People often conflate opposition with hate, mistakenly believing that disagreement equals hostility. What I did see was several instances of Trump engaging in virtue signaling to make himself look good in front of his supporters. Meanwhile, when Democrats who oppose Trump don’t stand and applaud him, they’re interpreted as being hateful toward the person in the spotlight.

On the Republican side, I witnessed members angrily yelling at Al Green2 to leave because he was protesting Trump’s speech and refusing to sit down – I even heard someone shout, “get the fuck out”3. Trump himself pointed at Democrats, calling them “radical left lunatics,”4 and he labeled Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas”5 for her stance on supporting Ukraine. I personally don’t mind the name-calling, but it is technically a form of hate and was very intentionally used as such.

I support the hate that I saw from the Democrats, which was none. If there’s anything specific you feel was hateful, let me know. Do you support the hate that Republicans and Trump openly and proudly displayed?

Uncle: +2 Acknowledged, +3 Information, +3 Unrelated
I did not watch the whole thing, I did see a protester ( Al Green) not following the set guide lines for a high level gov. meeting. and escorted out. I did see not one Demarcate support a young kid who has fought for his life because they hate Trump. I did see a lot of woman wearing pink, not sure why, they want to make it ok for males to have physical sports with females. and when anyone of them is asked what a female is, they cant answer. as for the “get the fuck out” that was not right. but if you look at the recent Demarcate congress and Senators on there protests they say stuff like, we need to take them out, we need to fight in the streets, Fuck Trump, Trump called Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” because she claimed she was Native American for years then when she took a DNA test and was shown she was not, she claimed the test was wrong.

I support everyone’s right to have their opinion, that’s why I spent 10 years in the Air Force to help make sure every one has a right to speak their mind. there has to be talks, when one side stops talking it is over for all.

This is a bad start to forming such strong opinions on the matter. It’s very disheartening when people express their opinions as fact on material without first looking at it in its entirety. Don’t get me wrong, they have every right to do so, but it unfortunately leads to an abundance of misinformation. We can do better.

I take no issue with this on paper, rules are rules. But if we are talking about hate, rage, and tantrums, look at how the Republicans acted in response to him. Hate, rage, and tantrums.

This was the point I was trying to make about Trump engaging virtue signaling. Trump was actively using these young people to get praise from his supporters while also making the Democrats that oppose him look bad. Since they didn’t applaud and cheer for Trump, people incorrectly interpret that as thinking they don’t support those young people. The 13-year-old, DJ, that was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and given five months to live, he’s a true fighter almost seven years later. And for Trump to do for him what he did, in front of all those people, probably made him the happiest kid in the world. I’m sure everyone is happy for him, and it made Trump look good to his supporters, but the Democrats did not applaud “Trump”. If Democrats applaud, they appear to support Trump. If Democrats don’t applaud, they appear to be hateful. It’s one of Trump’s many manipulation tactics he likes to use, and it works on many of his supporters. It’s important to be aware of how these tactics work.

Again, this is still name-calling and was intentionally used in a hateful manner by the President of the United States.

As for the other stuff you mentioned that happened/happens outside of this rally, that’s a whole other discussion.

we have very different opinions on what we seen last night, and that is fine. but 2 things I have to say 1, every demarcate that has been in front of congress confirmation committee was asked by a Republican what is the definition of a female cannot answer that question so how can they stand for woman’s rights? they don’t know what one is. 2, name calling in a hatful manor? so I can claim to be a black lesbian female and you say no you are not is that hate speech? or fact? it looks to be in your opinion that would be hate speech in my opinion that would be fact. just have to agree to disagree. stay safe and well.

I agree that we have different opinions on what we saw, however I do not agree that it is “fine”. For one, I saw the whole thing and formulated my opinions based on facts. You, however, saw some of it and formulated your opinions based on your feelings. When opinions don’t fully account for the complexities of an issue, they can easily evolve into misinformation that spreads rapidly on social media.

Though I don’t fully understand your (and many Republicans’) fixation on this, I’ll entertain the question a bit. I’m assuming you actually mean they were asked what a “woman” isโ€”woman being gender and female being sex. Sex is more of a biological classification, typically based on reproductive anatomy, chromosomes, and hormonal profiles, and we can all pretty much agree is mostly either male or female. Gender is more of a classification based on social roles, behaviors, identities, and social expectations that societies attribute to people. There’s no straightforward way to explain the complexities and challenges of why “What is a woman?” is a tough question. A similar example would be answering “What is art?”. Your answer to either of those questions is ultimately subjective, can change over time, and is based on context and even your own personal experiences. I would certainly love to hear what you think a woman is as well as what you think art is.

I don’t fully understand what you’re trying to say here. I was pointing out how Trump was deliberately calling people names, like when he called the Democrats “radical left lunatics” and Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas”. It underscores the use of name-calling as a tactic to dismiss or belittle political opponents. It’s an example of hate, one of the main points in your post you shared. On a side note, if you truly want to identify as a black lesbian female, you have my full support. I’m a kind, loving, accepting, open-minded, and proud Democrat.

Uncle: +1 Unrelated
well I guess I am with the 76% of Americans that thought he did a good job last night

Nephew: +5 Questions, +1 Acknowledged, +4 Information
The poll I found that reflects your number says, “The survey was based on the responses of 1,207 adults.”7 Are you then saying you agree with 917 (roughly 76%) of those people? The poll also states that only 20% of the viewers were Democrats, so why didn’t 80% approve? Also, how many people do you think live in America, and do you think the views from the rest of the world matter at all? Or are you simply trying to stick with the rest of the flock’s mentality?

I would certainly be delighted if you responded to any counterarguments to your own points. Let me remind you of what the original post you shared said:

“Democrats showed the world tonight that they are the party of hate, rage, and tantrums. Not standing for American Citizens brutalized by murderers, the family of a slain Police Officer, and a child cancer survivor?! We the People are DONE with Democrats!”

I provided plenty of information and examples on the matter and even entertained your other unrelated points. I would really like to see examples of the hate, rage, and tantrums the Democrats displayed during the Trump rally. I also provided instances of Republicans and Trump actually doing this, though you did say that the person saying “get the fuck out” was not right. If you’re happy to concede your stance on this and admit that this post is just factually not true, feel free to continue not replying to my questions and the points I’ve provided.
